Commandos was launched on the market in 1998, almost instantly becoming a timeless classic worldwide. After the first installment, an extension was published ('Beyond the Call of Duty'), later appearing Commandos 2: Men of Courage (which even appeared on the consoles of the moment) and Commandos 3: Destination Berlin, that would end the trilogy.

Three years after this last installment, the game that concerns us today appeared, for computers and consoles, which represented a radical change of course with respect to what we had seen until then. It was about abandoning isometric strategy and embracing first-person shooter games, without neglecting the tactical aspect. It was a risky change (on the other hand it seemed more plausible that it would triumph in the world of XBox and Play), and it remained to know how it would be received, because the setting and even the essence were still there.

It did not reach the technical level of 'Call of Duty 2', the one that hit it at that time, and it did not have the success of its predecessors, but it is a good title that deserves a few games.

About its creators, we must say that Pyro Studios began to develop two new titles some time later, 'Cops' and 'Planet 51', without ever seeing the light. In 2012 it merged with Play Wireless, creating Pyro Mobile, which kept its doors open until 2017.

For its part, Eidos Interactive is, since 2009, Square Enix Europe.
