On August 3, 1999, Spectrum Zone, the predecessor of Computer Emuzone [CEZ], was launched. So, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and it is worth saying so, even though we have not been able to prepare anything special. We will continue here as long as we can. Thanks for everything!

The work of a video game analyst must be impartial and objective, but there are times like this, in which knowing in advance that it is a Retroworks game, the body and mind are already predisposed to make a positive criticism and also, with the addition of its magnificent cover by Mikomedes.

And indeed, such is the case at hand, because we are facing a past game that achieves a great balance in all aspects and that, in addition, has the charm and fascination of being an M.I.A. (Missing In Action). In other words, a humble and simple game, supposedly lost and lost, no less than in 1991, with the name of The Chard and only in a version for the Spectrum 48K, which has been recovered a long time later, specifically in 2014 , renamed "The Charm" and improved and redesigned (practically with double the kilobytes), for Spectrum 128K and +3, providing an improved graphic level and, above all, showing off its greater musical possibilities on the modest but immeasurable " rubbers ".

"The Charm" is the typical platform game in which our character, Sir Ope, must advance screen after screen, walking, jumping, dodging obstacles and killing a varied cast of enemies until breaking the spell that enslaves his Kingdom, in a final showdown with the devil himself. Honestly, it does not add anything new, nor is it especially innovative or groundbreaking, but it distills that essence and that strange addiction that only eighties games have, to the point of being able to pass perfectly for a title published in the golden age of 8 bits, to even though it is actually quite recent. In other words, a game that you should not miss! and a great job (as always) from the guys at Retroworks and co.
