Leovigildo, what are you doing, Leovigildo? Leovigildo!! or the Salvalamalvadetierra Conspiracy

CHAPTER 1: “THE CONSPIRACY”
This wasn’t certainly Duke Benoit Rundown, heir of the great house of Salvalamalvadetierra’s finest moment. Unable to control his irrepressible fondness for watermelon peanuts, the Duke was squandering the fortune that the Salvalamalvadetierras had treasured for centuries since his ancestor Victor Alberto Saavedra discovered the legendary treasure of the African tribe the Jamacucos (province of Badajoz) and invested it all in a shipping company, a mining exploitation, and a dating agency.

Such was his dilapidated state, that almost all works of art and valuables from his enormous mansion had been disappearing slowly, and just a bunch of cobwebs remained. He had also had to expell, one way or another, his 101 servants. Half had left with fresh wind, and the other half still swarmed by the huge mansion claiming their settlements.

The only one who remained true to the duke was Leovigildo, his butler. He was born a Butler, for his father, and his father’s father, had been butlers of the Salvalamalvadetierra before him… so the poor footman knew no other life, and therefore did not crave for anything else.

The Duchess, the beautiful lady Dona Marie Antoinette was fed up with her husband and couldn’t stand that he was dilapidating the entire family fortune, so he decided to take up the matter and began plotting. The only possession they had left at that point was the mansion itself. As the Duke was so incredibly inept, kept the deed of ownership in his little office, but forgot to sign them. The Duches just had to get the papers, stamp her signature, and could throw the Duke away and, at least, keep the mansion.

However, as she is a woman of high rank, she decided to send poor Leovigildo to do the dirty work for her. Besides, to make matters worse, the buttler was deeply in love with the Duchess. In the past, Leovigildo was able to sneak several times in the private room of the Princess (which is opened by actuating a mysterious artifact located in the dresser in her bedroom) and he knew that she kept a bottle of chloroform in there for unknown reasons. More than once he had fantasized about sleeping the Duchess with such chloroform, kidnapping her, taking her to the forest, and there demonstrate his love to her.

In the role of Leovigildo, you must choose what you will do … Will you try to carry out your plan to kidnap the Duchess? Or will you follow the Duchess plans to steal the mansion deed of ownership instead? Will you do both things? None of them? It’s up to you !!

CHAPTER 2: “THE FLIGHT”
At the end Leovigild decided to do both things: you got the Duchess the ownership deed but also stole her bottle of chloroform. The duchess was incredibly pleased, but on discovering about the chloroform part (Leovigildo was quite a dull boy!), the Duchess fell desperately in love for the butler – for some strange reason. Duchesses’ matters. This sudden attack or sheer love somewhat clouded her judgment, and the Duchess could not restain herself, and threw herself into the arms of her new lover. The duke, alerted by the love clappling, broke into the private apartments of the Duchess and catched them red handed.

The Duchess and Leovigild, carrying their precious deed of ownership, jumped through a small window and disappeared into the woods. Although the dense forest was riddled with bugs, the Duchess seemed to be pretty sure that she wanted to go through. She seemed to aim for something obscure, as if she had some hidden plan up her sleeve.

Leovigildo, like a champion, will open the way … throwing boxes!

CHAPTER 3: “THE CIRCUS”
After crossing the forest, Leovigildo and the Duchess arrived at the esplanade of the European circus. There, Marie Antoinette explained the Butler her true plans: She had always dreamed of dominating the universe and become an Evil Overlady!.

Leovigild was somewhat flipping when he saw the Duchess craw beneath the circus tent. Knowing the legendary “wrath of the circus people”, he tried to stop her. She pulled away, saying it was very important to get to the cabin of the circus, which is the place from where circuses are controlled. That is the first step to dominate the world – everyone knows it !!

Surprised, but very much in love, Leovigildo decided to follow. “This time I will take care of it myself,” said the duchess, “When I was younger I worked in a circus and I know how to move around in this setting. In my younger years I was known as Lady Potoña, and was very famous. That’s when the Duke me discovered me. I feel deeply in love for his eyes, his promises of love, and the chords of his balalaika … I was young and impetuous. And now look at me… “. Then paused dramatically and looked at the horizon.

“I will find the cockpit of the circus, sure as I’m called Marie Antoinette Salvalamalvadetierra!” She exclaimed, and disappeared under the marquee.


The game

The game is divided into three different blocks, one per chapter, which load independently and which you can play freely. There’s a four, last block containing the ending sequence. You need a password, given at the end of Chapter III, to access it.

Controls are similar in every chapter, even if the gameplay is different in each. You can get and carry boxes pressing DOWN, and drop them elsewhere pressing DOWN again. In the second chapter, besides, you can throw such boxes to kill enemies, pressing FIRE. In the third chapter, you can jump over boxes which have became trampolines of sorts which you can also carry around, but they are so heavy that will deplete your energy. In every chapter you can use DOWN to get, examine, talk or use an object. You can manage your inventory pressing Z to change the cursor which points to the active slot to select which object you want to use / in which slot you want to store a new object.

You can use two different keyboard configurations (WSADNM, QAOPM), Joystick Sinclair or Joystick Kempston. These are the key bindings, first for the WSADNM configuration, the the OPQAM configuration, then the Joystics.

A, O, Left: go left.
D, P, Right: go right.
S, A, Down: use object, examine, talk, get box, drop box.
N, Q, Up: jump.
M, Fire: Throw box (chapter 2)
Z: select slot in the inventory
H: Pause
Y: Exit to title

The first chapter has four different endings, depending on the tasks you complete before talking to the Duchess. Only one of those endings is the real one (according to the story)

On the second chapter, you have to kill all the enemies on the screen before you progress to the next. If you run out of boxes, you can restart the level stepping on the special tile and pressing down – but you’ll lose a life.

On the third chapter, you control the duchess, who can jump over trampoline boxes to reach higher. You can also transport such boxes, but they are so heavy that they will deplete your energy.

The fourth block contains the ending sequence. You can watch it once you get a password for completing the third chapter. You can play each chapter freely, but you need to complete the third to access the ending sequence.
