Benurio, hijo de un modesto comerciante, se había convertido en poco tiempo en uno de los oficiales más populares de las legiones romanas.

Bravo en la batalla, admirado por sus hombres y temido por el enemigo, nuestro héroe era motivo de conversación en los principales círuclos de la ciudad de Roma. Y esto no agradaba en absoluto a Nerio, el jefe de la guardia pretoriana del emperador, que cegado por la envidia se había propuesto desacreditar a Benurio, acusándole de traidor al imperio por sus relaciones con una joven cristiana, Calia, de inusitada belleza.

Ahora Benurio tendría que probar su inocencia en una carrera de cuádrigas muy peligrosa luchando por el triunfo para el Imperio y demostrar de este modo su lealtad al emperador.

Pero el malvado Nerio ha sobornado a los otros corredores que intervienen en la prueba para que acaben con Benurio antes de llegar al final.

El espectáculo está servido.


LA CARRERA

El objeto del juego es lograr completar el recorrido en cuatro carreras distintas en cada una de las cuales habrá que dar cuatro vueltas, sorteando obstáculos y luchando sin descanso con el resto de los contrincantes que continuamente intentarán desplazarnos de la pista o atacarnos con sus armas.

Nuestro personaje podrá acelerar o desacelerar la velocidad de su cuádriga y desplazarse a la derecha o a la izquierda con el fin de evitar chocar con los muros que se encuentran repartidos por el circuito.

CONTROLS : Keyboard, Kempston

AIM : Benurio, a merchant's son, has fallen foul of the wicked Nerio, chief of the Emperor's Praetorian Guard. Both men are trying to win the affection of the beautiful Calia - but the unscrupulous Nerio has denounced Benurio and forced him to race in the Circus Maximus (not the Colosseum of the title!). However, chariot racing is a rough business and the other participants will try to kill you before the end of the race...

GAMEPLAY : You must complete four very hazardous races in each of which you'll have to complete four laps, avoiding the obstacles and fighting off your opponents. They carry weapons of increasing deadliness with which they'll try to reduce your energy:

1) Hatchet - the least dangerous; this is what you start off with.
2) Sword - more powerful than the above.
3) Mallet - still more powerful.
4) Trident - the most powerful weapon with non-instant effect.
5) Net - instant effect; will take away all your energy.
6) Lance - the same as the net in effect.

To get a better weapon than the humble hatchet, you'll need to finish off a better-armed opponent and grab his weapon. You'll then be able to use it againt your other opponents.
