Continental Circus

When I see a European game for MSX I start to tremble. If it is a conversion, the shaking is double. And I don't think it's unjustified, because we all know how those conversions were made. I've already said it on some other occasion, but you have to ask yourself if you sold little for this computer because of the quality of the games you published, or you didn't take care of the quality because it sold little. What was before?

What happens is that it's a bittersweet feeling ... I can imagine a lot of children and teenagers marveling at some game they had seen in magazines or arcades, and thinking that it was worth having the game even with the aforementioned conditions; although no one in their right mind would prefer Meganova to "Nemesis", for example, why not have both.

This Continental Circus is a quick conversion probably published just in Spain (in the advertising of foreign magazines, MSX is not mentioned anywhere), with Spectrum graphics and the usual slowness derived from non-optimization.

The seriousness of the matter is increased by the fact that the Spectrum version was the worst of all those that were made from the original TAITO for arcades. And at that time foreign companies were already focused on 16 bits, although the C64 has an excellent sound and CPC has a lot of color.

But, on this occasion, the usual conversion is disastrous because of two factors: because they leave out the Spectrum sound (it was 128k, AY chip as the MSX, didn't?) And instead left us in absolute silence. .. And because it's a racing game, gentlemen, speed is fundamental!
