On August 3, 1999, Spectrum Zone, the predecessor of Computer Emuzone [CEZ], was launched. So, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and it is worth saying so, even though we have not been able to prepare anything special. We will continue here as long as we can. Thanks for everything!

The early days of Spanish soft were times of innovation, entrepreneurship, enthusiasm ... and disorganization.

The information of what has been done is often conspicuous by its absence, and one of the most outstanding cases is the work of Indescomp. Although La Pulga or Fred are widely known, and their adventures and tours are perfectly documented, other subsequent games did not have the same luck, and have been lost for years, such as Robin (Amstrad CPC), Exterminator (Spectrum) or the one that today it concerns us.

I did not know of the existence of this game until last year. I don't remember where I saw the first mention, perhaps in an interview with one of the original authors. I started to investigate a little more and found some videos, including one with a complete game that you have available in the corresponding tab.

But the game did not appear (even today I think it could not be found on the internet). So I contacted the visible head of SPA2, Juan P. López Grao, and asked him about it. He told me that, effectively, the game had been preserved. I did not remember when, but it was done by Óscar Mira (Sabreman), and also José Manuel (El Trastero del Spectrum) ... But it was not on that page, nor in WOS, which, as you know, has been without updates for a long time. So he passed it to me, and I started to upload it until ... Well, you know, we update when we have free time, things are like this. Confinement arrived and the possibility of uploading a lot of things, and today we finally put it at your disposal if you did not know it.

We have the cover and the tzx and little else ... We do not know the history (will the manual be there?) And we do not even know what year it was published, although we can deduce that it was between 1984 and 1985.

In fact I would go for the latter, for a simple reason: our character turns into a wolf from time to time, probably inspired by Kngiht Lore. The Ultimate game was released in November 1994, and it's highly unlikely that the authors of The Witch knew about it right at the time of its release. Even so, it would take a few months to develop the game, making it the most feasible option by far. We will document this in the database, in the absence of definitive data.

And how is the game? Well, without shrillness. Passable graphics, 48K sound and a more complex development, common to the games of those years, which had more video adventure components than those that would come out in the last years of 8-bit life.

We know that we will go through different civilizations, to which a number of screens that are indicated in the presentation of the game are dedicated, also reviewing some of them. In them, we will have to collect a series of objects, to -we deduce- break a spell and rescue our beloved.

Every time I review a game that I did not know, feelings of satisfaction and vertigo mix, in case it is the last unknown to appear. Twenty years after CEZ was born, games that were believed to be lost continue to appear, so let's hope it continues often.
