'African Trail Simulator' certainly wasn't the best motorcycle game of its time, but its concept was interesting.
Something that often happened with Positive products was that, after reading the game's instructions, you expected much more than what you actually found. The graphics were very basic, and the sound consisted of little more than a couple of beeping channels. Once you learn how to avoid crashing, the game boils down to racing while managing your fuel and other minor things, and this is where ATS's "strategic element" comes into play; that is, choosing your equipment wisely at the beginning of each level.
Really, with machines like the Amstrad or the MSX, they could have done much more (and with more colors on the MSX, by the way).
