One of the great arcade classics from the late 70s—which we now bring to you in a version for the Commodore 64—is *Deep Scan*. Released in 1979, this submarine simulation game was developed and published by Sega for arcades in Japan, while in North America, it was distributed by Sega/Gremlin. The player controls a warship on the ocean surface, attempting to destroy submarines lurking below—a concept similar to games like *Periscope* (1965), *Sea Wolf* (1976), or *Depthcharge* (1977). Some arcade cabinets also featured *Invinco*, a *Space Invaders* clone released by Sega in 1979. Minter’s conversion introduces several enhancements while staying true to the essence of the original. There are two game modes: the classic mode, where you control your vessel using a joystick, and a new mode that utilizes a paddle controller—offering a fresh, more agile, and equally fun way to play. If you have a paddle controller, this is a version you definitely shouldn't miss!
