Altered Beast is one of the best-seller games converted for the MSX systems by a Spanish team.

It is clear that Erbe/MCM would not miss the opportunity to provide the megahit created by SEGA to as many users as possible. Teams of United Kingdom (8 and 16 bits), United States (PC) and Japan (consoles) had already done most of the work, but lacked the MSX, as usually happened.

New Frontier were responsible for carrying out the conversion, we can assume that directly from the Spectrum version. What in the Sir Clive's computer was a tremendously colorful, fast animations and great music, but with a deficient scroll, precisely does not improve in the MSX version.
More or less the same game, but with two negative and one positive things. The best is the music, which is perhaps better than the Spectrum one, although AY chip is used in both cases, perhaps the pieces composed by McAlby sound better.
On the negative side, it is noteworthy the usual direct conversion, which makes what was a surprisingly pleasant colorful game becomes a rehash of attributes for MSX. And secondly, the animations of the characters are rather slow, which together with the scroll inherited, makes the playing experience somewhat tedious.

But hey, even though was not a great job, at least MSX users could enjoy the game ... And thanks to a Spanish company.
