Comando Tracer

The problem with Tracer Command was its simultaneous release with Atlantis Rescue, one of Dinamic's masterpieces, which relegated it to a discreet second place, despite its tremendous originality (only an 8, Microhobby?!) and its highly addictive nature.

The Amstrad version stands out for its polished graphics, although the Spectrum version is not far behind. Furthermore, the CPC version includes music, unlike the other two. The MSX version, meanwhile, is exactly the same as the Spectrum version in terms of gameplay, with slightly more colorful menus and a different way of selecting the planet you're heading to.

Finally, delving once again into the fascinating world of anecdotes, I bought this game and Rescate Atlántida, in their Spectrum +3 versions, at the "Megagames" store (I'm sure some of you still remember it from its magazine promotions) during a Christmas stay in Madrid.

The game wasn't distributed in the UK (and probably the rest of Europe) until four years after its release in Spain! It was Summit, a low-budget software company, that ventured to do so during the total decline of 8-bit gaming across Europe (probably, faced with a lack of new titles in England, they explored the rest of the continent in search of games not yet released there), appearing under the name The Last Commando and with the cover art of Bestial Warrior (taking advantage of the fact that it hadn't been released there yet)! Those Brits are crazy.
